Wijnen

Wijn is in wezen niets anders dan vergist sap van versgeoogste druiven – en dat is ook de wettelijke definitie ervan – maar is in de praktijk toch wel iets gecompliceerder. Eigenschappen als type, kleur, stijl en smaak zijn afhankelijk van factoren als terroir (de optelsom van natuurlijke factoren als bodem, klimaat en ligging), teeltwijze, opbrengst, manier van wijnmaken en commerciële overwegingen, die allemaal samen leiden tot een eindeloze variatie. Mede daarom is er geen enkele andere drank die zo tot de verbeelding van gebruikers spreekt als wijn. De wereldwijde wijnproductie bedraagt jaarlijks ongeveer 275 miljoen hectoliter. Ongeveer de helft daarvan komt uit de drie grootste Europese wijnlanden: Italië, Frankrijk en Spanje.
